Mulgrave News May 2009

News from Chris

Hi All

I hope all is going well.  Due to the spread of numbers in the groups we have had to single every age group this year.

I have done a new program which is being checked for mistakes but we will start it now.

The optional event part is to start a 1pm each Sunday.  Warm ups for these events must be done by the athletes themselves.

As each athlete can only do five events, those who choose to do the optional event must choose which event not to do from the other five events offered. If by chance you do six events then we will automatically take the first run event off, regardless if it is a record or pb.

The warm up will start at 1.15pm with the program starting at 1.30pm. Warms must be attended by ALL participating athletes.

Congratulations to all athletes that have attended Bendigo Bank I hope you all did well.

I will be on holidays with Cheryl for the next five weeks touring Northern Territory. I will still be contactable by mobile phone 0407373232 or by email chrisstirlo@yahoo.com.au

If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

Chris.

We have an official clinic coming up 24th May 8.30 am at Johnson Park - over at Soccer Building (building near netball courts) and we need to know who would like to attend.

It will cost you nothing and those who would like to come to our club competition in the afternoon will be given a BBQ lunch, and as We will have senior soccer on the field, any children you bring along in the morning   kept out of the soccer games way.

This is a great opportunity to learn the rules and coaching tips which will help you as parents help your own kids.

Please get the forms in asap to Sue or Kathy as we need to get numbers in for the course.

Registrar information from Cheryl

 Hi Everyone

This is the first email I have sent to the email addresses given on the registration forms this year. There are only 5 families not an email and they are CARRICK, FASCIA, MATTSON-DENT, TOMUN and WAY.

I would encourage if you know these families could you make them aware of competitions and things happening in the Club as we do endeavour to keep everyone up to date with information.

Chris has photocopied copies of this form and will be available at Club from Sunday.

As I am away, please give your form and money to Sue as soon as possible. I think Kathy will be entering them online so we usually have 2 weeks and sometimes the competition will close to Nominations a week before it is to be held. So no later then 24th May. Kathy or Sue will keep you informed as to the closing date.

Remember that when going to Townsville that accommodation maybe hard to find if there is football or another major sports event so don't leave it too late to book.

I hope you can make head and tail of this email and if any doubts, seek out the oldies in the club to explain especially Sue and Kathy.

Remember to have FuN and let the KiDs not matter if they are 50+ have fUn tooooooo oops parents you can have FuN tooooooooo

10th May 2009Travelling with Cheryl”.

Well just started Competition tonight and still awaiting Discus Medals to be announced.

Chris and I are having a ball and we are off to Berry Spring in the morning to a thermal pool to help my shoulders that the classifier hurt on Friday.

I don’t think I have done well in Discus tonight but I went to the Sports Medicine Doctor and Physio who will and want to treat me over the next week. So l don’t have events tomorrow with Jav on Wed and SP on Thursday,

Chris is being an official at my events so she can help me on my chair so that is good and she is learning lots about AWD seated rules.

We will be leaving Darwin Sat or Sun next week. . .

Hope you are all having fun at Club and wish all the athletes well from Chris and I for upcoming competitions and I will keep you informed as to my results as we have internet with us.

Reminder to everyone All Comers 6th & 7th June Townsville carnival.

11th May 2009

I just won Silver Paralympics Medal in Discus. Tomorrow I have Javelin and Wednesday Shot Put. Not bad with an injured left and right shoulder – having Physio every day.

16th May 2009

We are still in the land of the living and having a ball.

I won 3 Paralympics Silver medals for each of my events and there were 6 girls in my competition.

I injured my shoulders doing Shot Put but that was the last event of the comp, so I can rest now with Chris assigned driver. We will be in Darwin till Wednesday and then we are off south down the Stuart Highway to Ayers Rock.

We have 2 helicopter rides (with no doors booked at Kakado and Katherine)

I have attached an email that some of you may be interested in taking up.

Cheers from Chris and me.

And Congratulations to all who participated in School Boys and Girls. Well done.

Cheers Cheryl.

RELAY DAY NEWS

Our main fund raiser for the year is our relay day.  This is our 7th year at running this event. This carnival works on the       basis of athletes nominating as pairs to form a team to compete against other teams in events. Their combined results are given points to which  at the end of the day are tallied with winning teams receiving medals.  The other clubs in our area also compete.  Over the last few years we have had a stall of cakes and plants etc. If anyone has any ideas for this please come and share them with us.  Or any ideas for a couple of raffles we would like to sell on the day would be a great help.

An important note our date for relay day has to be changed due to a clash with the soccer. Please keep the 6th of September free.

On a sad note we must pay our deepest sympathy to Sian Platt whose son Stewart passed away on May 4th.  Sian and her family spent 9 years with us at Mulgrave. While Stewart and his sister Rachel were really wonderful competitors. Sian took on many committee jobs during her time with us.

Flowers and a card were sent to Sian & Rachel on behalf of every one at Mulgrave. A big thank you to Sue for organising this.

Don’t cry because he’s gone, smile because he’s been”.
