Hello all, we hope you are all settling into some sort of routine on our club

one of our friendly committee members, we are happy to help our wherever we
can.
Cairns Athletics would like to congratulate all of the athletes who attended the QLAA State Championships. We had a very successful team of athletes who performed well in Brisbane. Many PBs and medals were bought home. Also a big thank you to Julie Redmond, Alison Haigh, Kathy Bortolanza, Adrian Bortolanza and Warren Galligan for coaching the athletes for the 3 months leading up to the championships. Without there help our athletes would not of had such a successful campaign.
***LEVEL 1 COACHING COURSE***
Anyone that may be interested in becoming a level 1 coach please let us know ASAP. There is a level 1 coaching course coming up on the 25th & 26th of April out at Smithfield Athletics. The club will pay half of the course and reimburse the other half after you have contributed some coaching to our athletes. With training for our athletes being free this year we are on the look out for new coaches, this can be a very rewarding job. So if you are interested please give Julie Redmond a call on 0401474126 or email at jjejredmond@bigpond.com
***LEVEL D &C OFFICIALS COURSE***
We are also offering a D level and C level officials course. The D level will be held at Mulgrave athletics on the 23rd of May. These courses will give you a better understanding of the everyday running of a club day. You will also then be able to officiate at carnivals if you have your level C official’s certificate. The level C will be held in Tolga on 30th &31st of May, this course will be subsidized by the club. So if you are interested please advise someone in administration. This is a fantastic opportunity to become more involved in your child’s sport. Athletics is not a spectator sport and we could use all the help we can so why not give it some thought and become an official.
