Athletes Under 16’s to Masters

The club is currently in the process of developing a new singlet for the older athletes to incorporate the existing club colours. Currently under IAAF ruling the uniform guidelines are under review, we hope to have the new singlet designed and approved to accommodate the new rulings as soon as practical. A crop top & running short, and body suit is currently being developed also to fit into these guidelines. The new colours will encompass the existing club colours of red, white and black. Until the new uniform is approved, the old Cairns & District Athletics Club uniform will be acceptable.

Please ask for details.

Blue Card
All Cairns Athletic Committee Members, Chief Officials, Canteen Convenors and Team Managers possess a Blue Card. A register is kept of all volunteers who currently hold a blue card, including number and expiry date.

Parent helpers are not required to hold a Blue Card, though we do encourage them, and forms are available from the Club Registrar or online at:www.childcomm.qld.gov.au/employment/bluecard/applications.html

Officials
Parents are encouraged to become qualified Officials. They are an integral part of our club, not only vital for our Carnivals, but the knowledge gained increases competency on the field each club day. This ensures smooth running of all events. A two day training course will be conducted on Sat 17th & Sunday 18th May in Tully. Cost for the course ($15) will be subsidised by the club which includes an IAAF rule book. Lunch, Morning & Afternoon Tea are provided with this cost. Further training and support is provided throughout the year and you are most welcome to attend.

Club Meetings
Club meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at our clubhouse at Barlow Park at 7.00pm. The clubhouse is the CDRL Building on the Severin St side of the park. All members are welcome.

THE ROLE OF THE PARENT:
Athletics probably makes more demands on parents support than other sport. We need your help all through
the season. We must have age Marshals.

AGE MARSHALL'S DUTIES:
To supervise a defined age group during the whole of the afternoon or evenings programs.

The age Marshall will be given a folder containing the program for their age group & field event result sheets.
The age Marshall is responsible for ensuring children attend each event programmed for them and encourage
parents to come out with them.
Without parents help we wouldn't be able to run our program. Age Marshall's should ensure all athletes have their performances recorded and receive their tickets.
